I’ve been a professional musical theater actress for, gulp, twenty-five years, having performed all over the Bay Area and in other parts of the country including a few stops in New York City. (I’m looking at you Neil Patrick Harris.) Preferring to make my career near my hometown, I returned to Northern California to raise a family (Rylie age 10, and Ryder age 16) and to contribute to the local professional arts community in Silicon Valley. I have loved singing my heart out at Theatreworks Silicon Valley, San Jose Rep, American Musical Theater of San Jose, Marin Theater Company, Center Rep, and many others, with a specific focus on helping to develop new musicals.

After having my first child, I began writing and producing my own work. Interested in telling comically driven, heart-centered stories, with women in charge, my first musical Becoming Britney, co-written with BFF Daya Curley, premiered at The New York Fringe Festival, for which I was awarded Best Actor. Becoming Britney also won the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle award for best original script. After the birth of my second child, (apparently, I write musicals after every child), I was commissioned by Center Repertory Theater in Northern California to write Real Housewives The Musical. This gem of a show, (if I do say so myself), went on to be produced/directed by Roger Bean (writer/producer of Marvelous Wonderettes) and the legendary Garry Marshall (of Happy Days and everything else he did fame), at The Garry Marshall Theater in Los Angeles. Both shows were acquired and published by Stage Rights Theatricals, now an imprint of Broadway Licensing, NYC and Housewives has seen productions across the globe.

I am currently working on a new musical, Hysterical. Currently, there is a solo version of the show and a delightful four-person version. Hysterical is about, wait for it… ME! Who writes a musical about themselves? I do! This show has been in development for about three years. I am working with director Timothy Near, former artistic director of San Jose Repertory Theater. The show has had three readings and has just been submitted to a slew of festivals for further development. The solo version of Hysterical, titled “Molly Bell’s Hysterical” will be making it’s world premier this August in the Bay Area. Details will be announced soon…but let’s just say I’m excited to see this show fly!

I am particularly interested in the cross-sections of comedy, pop musicals, spirituality, and personal growth. I know that sounds unusual, but it’s the truth! I spend a lot of time thinking about how to get my ideas, shows, words, music, and thoughts out to the world while being a full-time mother.

No easy feet in today’s world. This is why I urge people to support me on Patreon, where you get exclusive content not supported by ads. One idea/project/performance/show at a time. Thanks for visiting! Have a poke around at some of my music, choreography and on stage performances.
